Lingerie try out: Christine le Duc

Rotterdam city trip + plus size store A.Josephs

A.Josephs

Although Amsterdam is my favorite city, I’m starting to warm up to Rotterdam more and more. So when I got the chance to stay at nhow hotel I decided to turn a sleepover into a short – but oh so sweet- city trip. Of course I had to check out A. Josephs -Rotterdams coolest plus size store- and try on a couple of outfits.

I asked my bombshell friend Anouschka – check out her blog CURVESFORDECADES – to join me on my little Rotterdam getaway. And we truly had a blast. It was so much for to meet Adiam, the fun-to-be-around lady who opened A.Josephs.

A.Josephs

The nhow hotel is one of the coolest hotels I’ve ever been. It’s big but has a cosy vibe. The rooms are light and stylish. We got a room at the 22nd floor with a beautiful view over the city. What I love about Rotterdam is that it’s the only Dutch city with a pretty spectacular skyline. And thanks to the room we were in, I got to enjoy that view on a whole other level, literally.

A.Josephs

On Friday we had a lovely dinner in the hotel restaurant followed by a cocktail on the terrace with the beautiful view again. The terrace was packed by the way. I can totally recommend it for a drink -or two. Their cocktail menu is pretty impressive as well (and yummy!). So when in Rotterdam, go get yourself a cocktail and a view…

After a great night sleep at the hotel it was time for some breakfast. And I’m not even exaggerating: I’d like to wake up to that breakfast every day! I mean, champagne with red berries before noon, who wouldn’t like that? Later that day we had lunch at Lof der Zotheid. And for dinner we had cocktails and yummy-in-my-tummy-food at Supermercado. Yeah, yeah… I love my foods.

A.Josephs

Besides breakfast, lunch and dinner we did some serious shopping too. I picked up up three cute basics at Weekday: a sweater dress and two fitted t-shirts -one black and one off-white. I have been wearing them a lot already, so I’m pretty excited about adding them to my closet. At a vintage store I got myself a onepiece that’s even big for me but super cute. I’ll turn it into an outfit post asap. Another thing I really had to do was pay a visit to ISIS Inc! If you like streetstyle with a lot of bling you can not miss this gem. I bought huge ‘Chanel’ earrings and a super cute blouse with matching backpack (my Appelsap outfit).

A.Josephs

After shooting a cute outfit post -soon online!- we took over A.Josephs to try out some items. I have to admit that I don’t shop a lot of plus size clothing, so it was a great way for me to get familiar with the fit of brands like Junarose and Monif.C. And I have to say: it was a great experience! To give you an idea of the mix A.Josephs has in store I tried on some things. I bought the blue Junarose dress and I also want to add one of their jeans to my collection. The fit was truly great and so comfy!

Red dress Junarose 44,95
Jeans Junarose 69.95
Black top Elvi 30,36 (sale)
Black dress Monif C 83,97 (sale)

Ofcourse I bought something at A.Josephs…. This super comfy Junarose dress! Instantly twinning with store-owner Adiam. How could we not take a picture?

A.Josephs

I think you can tell why I’m starting to love Rotterdam more and more. If you have the chance visit A.Josephs and support the lovely Adiam with her great store. Keep up with the new collections on Facebook & Instagram.

A big thank you to nhow Rotterdam for having us. I’ll be back!

How to rock a plus size bikini (video interview)

plus size bikini

Yay! Last month Anna Nooshin and I got together again for our second video for her YouTube channel. This time we talked about being plus size during the summertime. I showed some outfits and a my favorite plus size bikini ofcourse!

The viddy is in Dutch so just like last time I’ve translated some of the highlights. During my teens and twenties I avoided the beach. Some of my followers will remember my first post about my beach body and plus size bikini. I’ve come a long way and started to love bikinis more and more. My palm print Gabi Fresh bikini represents my change. This is the first bikini I own that I truly love. Having a plus size bikini that I really dig also made it easier for me to feel good when I wear it. I’m still a big fan of Swimsuitsforall and their collabs with bloggers en models. But I’ve also been shopping swimwear at Wehkamp and Monki. If you’re new to wearing a bikini order some goodies online. And figure out what shape and model makes you feel comfortable.

Anna also asked me if summertime makes me more aware of my body. And yes, it does. For me this has to do with the fact that I’m showing more skin during Summer. When it’s Winter I can hibernate and watch Netflix on the couch, but when the sun is out I like to be outside too. When it comes to food I try to eat healthy stuff 80% of the time. To me this is a great balance. I’m still not working out in the gym a lot but I do walk around Amsterdam for hours. Something that isn’t just great for my body but for my mind as well.

One of my most important body love lessons is smiling at myself when I stand in front of the mirror. Uncomfortable at first, but it makes the start of my day truly better. I’ve also stopped focussing on the things about my body that I don’t like and started to look at the bigger picture. I am a complete person. I’m not just my fat. I’m not just my cellulite. So I remind myself to look at all of me instead of parts of me that I don’t like.

At the beginning and the end of the video I also show some Summer fashion. A lot of cute stuff from MS Mode, ASOS Curve and Monki. My favorite bikini is featured too, I’ve combined it with pants with palm print, just like the bikini. How cool is that?

Most important, don’t let the way you look at your body dictate the way you live your life (during Summer). Put on a cool bikini or a bathing suit. Hug your body with a skirt or dress. Rock those jeans. Put on that freaking bikini! You are worthy of lots of sunshine and positive vibes.

Keep on shining!

Outfit: Emotional Baggage

Emotional baggage

It’s been forever (over a year!) since I posted an outfit on this blog… but better late than never. I’ve shot some looks recently and will continue to do this on a regular basis. I’m not really into just sharing outfits so I’ll always add some fashion tips or a short personal story. In this case it’s a story about my emotional baggage…

A little Q&A (+ fashion looks) with Anna Nooshin

Anna Nooshin

Let me start by saying: I love me some Anna Nooshin. She’s a big inspiration. This lady started one of the biggest online platforms in the Netherlands (NSMBL), wrote a bestseller (and is working on book number two!) and started working as a tv presenter as well. It wouldn’t be a surprise to me if this power woman becomes internationally well known. We have done a cool project for NSMBL before and I was honored to work on this video with Anna.
