I’m featured in the Dutch Glamour, and I’m super excited! In the interview I talk about why I started The Publisized. I love the picture made by Jolijn Snijders and it’s great to look at myself and read my own story. I’m a proud woman today!
About seven years ago I was featured in Glamour too for an article about being sexy at all sizes. I did say then that feeling good about yourself is a state of mind – and I still agree- but now I know that I had a long way to go. I talked about losing weight because of modeling –I felt like I was too big to be a plus size model. Flash forward: I never managed to lose all the weight, but I did manage to gain confidence. We often think we need certain things to feel better and happier like weight loss and a smaller dress size, but after almost 20 years of dieting I finally came to the realization that I was simply craving self-love.

It’s so damn easy to put yourself down every day. It’s easy to look at yourself and focus on the negatives. But life gets so much better when you teach yourself to look at what you like about your reflection, and what you give to this world. If you give yourself likes, you grow towards love. It’s a process that can take years but those little steps will eventually turn out to be life changing. I’m still learning every day. I have setbacks. I mess up. I can talk myself down. But I can also get myself back up again. Seeing your own growth is pretty empowering. That’s why it’s so good for me to see those two features in Glamour and the changes I’ve made over the last few years.
The article is in the April issue of the magazine but also published on the website of Glamour, it’s in Dutch but if you use Chrome you can probably get it translated for you.
