Plants On Pink: ‘BLUSH OASIS’ editorial

Plants On Pink

I’m so excited to share this Plants On Pink editorial with you. Some of you may know that I’m a lover of plants – yes please, jungalow style home! A lot of things I love come together in this editorial: plants, femininity, size diversity and a breathtaking colour scheme… Need I say more?

When Lotte van Baalen asked me to be part of this Plants On Pink project I felt so honored. And now that the results are here I’m even more proud. The colors are beautiful, the styling and make-up look fly and I love the fact that it shows diversity. When I started modeling 15 years (yup, I’m almost a dinosaur in the fashion world) a project like this wasn’t even something I would consider happening. I just seemed so out of reach.

I love that a platform and community like Plants On Pink embraces size diversity. What I love most is that it’s not even mentioned in the editorial. I’m just named as one of the two models. To me this is the way it should be. No plus size label. No reference to my size. I’ve done editorials like this before but it would always be emphasized: ‘XS versus XL’ or ‘skinny versus plus’. This Plants On Pink editorial doesn’t categorise us or focus on our differences, when I look at it I feel like it really brings us together.

The location for the shoot was the Hortus Botanicus in Amsterdam. It’s literally an urban oasis in the middle of the city centre. If you get the chance, go and visit!

I hope you love ‘BLUSH OASIS’ as much as I do. I want to give a big shout out to the all women team: Lotte van Baalen (founder of Plants On Pink) , Sharon Jane Dompig (photographer) ,Céline Bernaerts (make-up artist) and Doru Loboka (model). Check below for clothing credits.
